B&N ebooks no longer downloadable
Bad news for those who like to sideload their ebooks. I have a Nook but never buy from B&N as their books are too expensive, so this doesnt effect me, but it will certainly effect many others.
I love my Nook above all other ereaders, but it really does seem like B&N are determined to make their ereaders as unappealing as possible. Their refusal to sell internationally must have already lost them a vast amount of potential customers, now they are turning away even more. http://goodereader.com/blog/e-book-n...ad-nook-ebooks Barnes and Noble has just removed the ability to download eBooks that you have bought from the online Nook Store. They did this so users could not download purchased content locally on their PC and either strip it of the encryption or use a 3rd party reading app. The Barnes and Noble customer care division has sent out a tweet, letting people know that this is their new policy and not a bug. “The ability to sideload NOOK purchased content has been discontinued. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.” If you own a Nook e-reader or tablet, you will continue to enjoy purchasing and reading books right on your device. Ditto for people who use the official Nook app for Windows, Android or iOS. This issue mainly affects people who use an internet web-browser and accesses their Nook Library. In the past, a download option would appear, but now this has been removed. |

Guess they weren't satisfied with just shooting one foot off, they had to go for the other one too.

Wow are they intentionally trying to go the way of the dodo. I have a kindle paperwhite and buy mostly from amazon, but I have occasionally bought from Barnes and noble if someone gets me a gift card to them. I guess no more. Besides the build of the nook was shoddy at best. My sister had a nook glow light as well as one of my good friends. Both nooks died right around the year mark. One wouldn't hold a charge and the other kept getting frozen, to the point where the people at b&n said to purchase a new one. All my kindles still work, I've just upgraded when I wanted too, even if the previous one still worked. Say what you will about amazon but they have a quality product and don't really go out of their way to annoy their customers.
