Downgrading from 3.4 to 3.3 - "simple methods"?

I'm trying to update my DXG from 3.2.1, to 3.3, but the K3 I have has been on 3.4 for awhile now, and I can't find a way to downgrade it - it won't accept the .bin file, and I don't know how else to do it. I was hoping someone else might know how. I can follow directions if they are very detailed and clear, step by step, but if there happens to be a simpler way, I would rather do that. I hope someone here might have an answer for me.

Not really, if you don't have your own full backup. Kubrick would be a fine way to apply it, but it ships with 3.4.

I tried to flash a lower firmware using a debricking repair image, (and then I thought I would try upgrading to 3.3), but I could never get the Kindle to enter fastboot, so ATK would never recognize the device. The method I used to try to get the Kindle into fastboot was to hold the power button for 30 seconds, and then pressing the volume down, etc., but that didn't work. Is there another method I can use to get the Kindle into fastboot mode?
