E-Paper reader with OPDS support
I have a decent collection of books in epub from various online stores that I serve to my tablet though an OPDS feed. Lately I'm finding my only free time for leisure reading getting closer and closer to bedtime. I dislike using LCDs before bed, so I'm on the market for an e-ink reader.
I'm looking for an e-ink device that can work with my feed, as it has the added benefit of avoiding vendor lock-in to a drm ecosystem. Any suggestions? I'm not afraid of voiding warranties and sideloading software in order to have to not sideload every single book. Bonus Features: pdf, mobi, txt support lighting that isnt backlit (aimed at my eyes) Features I dont care about: Touch screens Web Browsers Audio 3g This is a single function device for my nightstand/coffee table. I'm not interested in most of the features the current gen is pushing. I'm happy to purchase a used one from here, craigslist, or ebay. Last edited by saik0; 09-23-2014 at 03:31 PM. |

According to the mobileread wiki, I don't see a single e-reading device with opds capability. A tablet with an appropriate app would be your best bet.

Yes, I have a T68 and it can certainly work with (for example) the Calibre server via Calibre Companion. In fairness I must point out that, although I'm extremely happy with my T68, a significant proportion of users have had problems. If you buy one, buy from Amazon for an easy return process. Their quality control does not seem to be the best.

I'm considering a Nook 1st gen and installing Trook, used ones can be found on ebay inexpensively. It would hold me over until something better comes along. Thanks everybody for the help! |
