Nexus 7 2013 - Battery Life

I just purchased a "demo" model of the N7. It is wonderful, in excellent condition. I am just wondering if the battery has suffered from being plugged in for who-knows-how-long? I watched about 45 mins of video and it drained the battery about 10% at medium screen brightness. That would be about 7-8 hours total. It charges fine, in about 3-3 1/2 hrs.

I figure it is fine for a days use, and then it could be charged at night. Just want to ask and see what is normal.

Does this seem OK? I'd can return the unit for about 1 more week, then it is mine. I'd like to keep it as it was a good price and the one year warranty would be valid since I purchased it here in Europe. Plus, no wall adapter needed and I've spent some time to test and set it up very nicely for my daughter.

That sounds reasonable to me. Video is an extremely CPU-intensive activity.

Keeping WiFi off when you're not using it will significantly extend battery life.

After turning off Wi-fi, I've found the best way to prolong the battery charge is to reduce the screen brightness. You say you have it at "medium screen brightness". If you mean 50%, you should be able to reduce it by several percentage points without it affecting your enjoyment of the video. It's definitely worth trying.
