It's an interesting way to keep a bookstore open: getting into publishing.
And since they know their customers they surely know what sells locally.
They'll probably sell a few million in NYC alone.
Add in Jersey...

Good business...
...as long as the BPHs don't target them for clmpeting with them.

Look to the indies making good money online on youtube, blogs, and (yes) Amazon/Nook/Kobo/Smashwords/etc.... for alternate media selling just fine outside the realm of the freak shows. Newspapers folding left and right, magazines going digital-only and folding anyway, the ever-declining share of the broadcast networks, indie movies, indie musicians...

There's lots of life and money slipping through the grip of big media precisely because they *don't* know the taste of the customers.
