What are you reading from Fictionwise right now?

With my new iPod Touch once again allowing me to read ereader files, I have been going on a bit of a bender at Fictionwise lately. I am just so excited to be able to buy NEW ebooks again! I could not find many titles for my ebookwise which were not all gunked up with too much DRM. At least with ereader you can switch to a new device without losing all your stuff! Anyway, the first ting I did was download some purchases from my Palm Pilot days which I had not gotten around to finishing before my Palm device bit it. Then I bought a few new ones from some recommendations in my exercise video group. So, currently, on my iPod Touch, I have: Third World Products by Ed Howdershelt (my sister recommended him) If I Am Missing or Dead by Janine Latus (just finished it, great book) Blood Brothers by Nora Roberts (not her best, but okay so far) Interworld by Neil Gaiman (not his best either, but okay so far) 18 Seconds by George D. Shuman (read first chapter at bookstore then got e once home) Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan (just starting it) Omnivore's Dilemma by Michael Pollan (just starting it) And in my wishlist, I have: The Story of David Sawtelle (expensive for me, but with 100% rebate, I am tempted) Darkly Dreaming Dexter by Jeff Lindsay In Your Dreams by Tom Holt (I like some of his other stuff) So what else is good these days? I am especially interested in finding some new authors in the multiformat category, as these tend to be cheaper. I will not pay more than $10 unless there is a good micropay rebate. So hit me with your best recs! |

I read it in paperback a while ago, but Tripwire [Jack Reacher Series Book 3] by Lee Child is worth reading and has a 100% MicroPay rebate. The entire series is available as ebooks, except book #2. Tripwire is a good introduction to the series, I don't think you need start with #1.

I'm re-reading my favourite Agatha Christie books, a good range of which are available at a very reasonable price from FW.

"Capacity" You get your money's worth with this one, because it is so complicated that you need to read it twice in order to catch all of the clues and nuances. It has both action and depth. |

I first read this after finishing a really intense grad course in Chaucer, which focused a lot of attention to cathedral building. The novel and classroom experience complemented each other very nicely.

"Pillars of the Earth" is one of my all-time favourite books. I believe it has a sequel, which I've not yet read.

I've just bought and loaded Don't Know Much About History by Kenneth C. Davis I've usually try to alternate a good informative book after a couple of fiction books, so I looked around on Fictionwise as to what looked good (had some Micropay dollars to burn ) Got it as it sounded really interesting, and not as dry as some other history texts. So far, just having started, its keeping my attention. |

I'm reading enjoyable trash right now: Black World, by Raymond A. Palmer, a short novel published in the 1940s. I'm one-half through the book. Thoroughly enjoyable, improbable nonsense. I'm getting ready to buy about 10-15 Shell Scott Private Eye novels, by Richard S. Prather. As noted elsewhere, there's a huge 25% off sale, from Independenat Publishers. I just finished one Shell Scott mystery, and it was a hoot. Here's one crazy line: "There was a lot of her already in the room before the rest of her got in." Absolute, crazy nonsense -- written in a different time. Don |

I just finished Anathem too. I'll be off on holiday in a week and I'm looking for some page-turners to take with me. I'll be spending all those micropay $$ soon enough...

Ficbot, if you have Micropay dollars, there's NO credit card requirement for Edward Sawtelle, so you can get it with Micropay $ and it goes back into your account immediately, making it free!
