Totally dead PRS 350..what to do?

My PRS 350 died mid-book...seized up and has been sitting on the same screen for the past month or so...nothing but the 'infinity' ciruclar arrows in centre screen and 'loading' displayed at the bottom. It won't recognise the charger, the PC, nothing. So, I can't reset, or default anything. I've had it since new (about 3 years) at a cost of around $350AU, and it was far from capacity when it was working. I've been in touch with Sony 'Customer Service'...what an oxymoron THAT is! No help whatsoever. Any ideas? Can it be saved, or do I chuck it? Very frustrating. Of course my books are in my reader library on the desktop, thankfully, but still.... Any advice, or just someone to endorse chucking it, would be appreciated!
Cheers!

Okay, even if you say it reacts to nothing, I'm not sure if this includes the reset button, since you only talk about usb. Chances are slim, that you didn't try this, but maybe you don't know this.
At the bottom of the device, there is a small hole. In it is the reset button. You need to push and hold this button with a toothpick or something else. After some time you then have to push the power button. I hope you haven't tried this, as I don't have any idea otherwise.

Great point about this unusual way of using the Sony's reset button (most devices just need a touch of the reset button and they reboot).

Here's from the 350's manual:
"Reset the Reader by pressing the RESET hole
with a small pin or clip  after 5 seconds, slide
the power switch to restart the Reader."

On my 650, you have to hold the reset button for 5 seconds, then cycle the Power Switch 5 times.

It then restarts. Although sometimes I have to hit the Power Switch again.
