Aura HD shows advertisement
Hi
Bought an Aura HD few days ago. After I open a book if no activity for 2 minutes the ereader moves away from the book and starts showing ads. Is it possible to stop it from doing that? Thanks |

You might want to try a different "Affiliation", I don't use the stock readers so I would never see that sort of thing but if they were doing that I would expect it would be tied to their Affiliation Program.

Ken
Thanks for the reply. I have no idea about "Affiliation". I bought it from a bookstore that has partnership with Kobo. The ereader settings shows an account belonging to the bookstore. If I get rid of that then might that help? |

That's probably it. Using your own account should fix this.

Thanks davidfor. The bookstore was using it for display and they had only one copy. Getting rid of that account should fix it.

I think the probable answer for your Kobo's behaviour is that it is in demo mode. To exit demo mode, type "demo mode off" (without the quotes) in the library search bar. Oddest way of turning a demo mode off/on I've seen in a while. The other way to enter demo mode is to add a line such as "demoModeTimeout=12000" in the configuration file ".kobo/Kobo/Kobo eReader.conf" -- note the leading . on the first directory name. Removing that line will take your Kobo out of demo mode, same as demo mode off in the search bar. Edit: Not certain because it's been a while but I seem to remember that demo mode disabled signout and factory reset in the last firmware revision where I played with it. Yes, "demo mode off" worked. Thanks!
