Full Text Search - Restrict Searched Books

I'd like to do the FTS on a limited number of books. I thought I could just 'temporarily mark' the desired books with ctrl-m, but this doesn't seem to work. In general, what's the best way to use the 'Restrict Searched Books' option in FTS?

Try this: after marking, show marked books (search marked:true), and then check Restrict searched books in FTS. If it's always the same books (i.e. reference texts) wrangle them into a VL (maybe via a tag) go to that VL and then check Restrict searched books in FTS.

BR, thanks very much for the prompt reply. Yes, that seems to work. In other words, FTS acts/searches -- when 'Restrict searched books' is selected -- on the books visible after the ordinary 'search.'

Yes - and I noticed after I posted it has that in the tooltip.

Aha! Sadly, I wasn't patient enough to wait for that hugely useful tooltip to pop up. I spent a lot of time in the Calibre 'help' but somehow couldn't find this crucial information. Anyhow, with that much-appreciated info, am now ready to apply the amazing FTS more usefully on my 45,000 book collection. (Using Virtual Libraries is something I should also have considered.)
