Kobo Aura resets all data on power off
Hi guys, I just bought the Kobo Aura and I only had one sideloaded book on it. I read it up to 40% or so and then I connected the reader to the laptop and copy-pasted some other books (to the root of the reader). I used eject function in Win7 but the books simply wouldn't show up. So I turned off the reader and when I turned it on I was asked again to choose language, type in Wi-Fi password and afterwards my reading stats were gone and the book I read was at 0%. The other books showed up though. I did another power off and this time it was ok, but why did that happen in the first place? Is there some way to automatically back up the stats?
And the second question, the names of the books I sideloaded are not the same as the name of the epub file in Windows. It would seem I cannot rename the books in Aura? How do I do it then? I will post a little review later. |

Use Calibre program to manage books added to your readers library should solve your problems. Most people on this forum use it.

rainalkar: The symptoms suggest the database on the device was corrupted. When that happens, it can keep working OK until a power off and on. At that point the database doesn't get saved and reread properly. If the database is in bad enough state, it can trigger the prompts you saw and a new database is generated.
And filmo's suggestion to use calibre is a good one. |

Ok, I am downloading it now. One other thing. I would like to keep the books on the laptop and set up an auto sync between that folder and the Aura (when it is plugged in). Do you know something about how it can be done?

You can do that with calibre and a plugin called Reading List.
