Kindle 3 Battery Charger

I'm looking for a way to charge Kindle 3 batteries, (S11GTFS01A), 3.7 volt 1750-1900 mAh outside of the device. I'm refurbishing the Kindle 3's and want to be able to charge extra batteries while I'm working on the devices.

I've searched everywhere in the past weeks and can't find anything, hope someone else can help.

Thanks,
Allan

Here are two universal cell phone chargers:

Charger for pins accessible on the edge.
Charger for pins accessible on flat side.

More searching and you can probably find both types on eBay.

They differ only in access to the battery's poles--just take a look and see which would be able to have its pins contact your battery.

I've used both types successfully on cell phone and MP3 player batteries. I forget which one I had that put out only ~250 mA, but it worked for cell phone batteries.

You have to find the + and - poles of your battery (if the poles aren't marked), but both types usually have some indicator system that helps identify polarity.

I also don't trust their safety, so I am usually nearby for the first few hours, and then check that the heat generated in the battery is low.

I actually purchased the first one you suggested only to find that it is much smaller than it appears. The Kindle battery wouldn't even come close to fitting. The second link you gave shows some promise so I've ordered one and will give it a try.

Thanks

Weird, I have the first one and it fits my s4 and my daughter's Note 2 batteries. From the looks of the batteries on eBay, the kindle one looks close to the Note 2 battery, in size)

If the contacts can be made to match, and it's just a matter of the extending part being too short, perhaps the holding of the battery against the contacts can be done with rubber bands, or a clamp, or some similar jury rig.

The second charger I linked wants to clamp the battery with its two contacts coming straight down onto the battery's contacts, so you need the contacts on the battery to face upwards when laying the battery on a flat surface in order to use that charger.

I ordered the second one and got it earlier this week. It does work, I charged up a totally dead battery over a period of about 24 hours. It's not the best fit, but absent a better solution, it works. I'm attaching some photos of the charger with the battery and a photo showing the actual size of the battery. As you can see, the battery is quite large for a flat battery, but then there's plenty of room inside the Kindle. I can tell you that you have to put it some place where it doesn't get jostled because the contact between the battery and the charger are not real tight which allows the position to shift just enough to cause it to stop charging.
