Something went wrong... Please try again - can't connect to wifi

I can't seem to connect to my wifi access point with my Kobo Aura HD. I'm using 3.2.0 firmware, and I've tried powering down the device, turning off and on the wifi, but no matter what, when I go to enter the password for the AP, it tells me "Something went wrong... Please try again".

Not a very useful error message...

I've just tried to factory reset my device, and now I'm at the Setup your device page, and it asks me if I want to setup over Wifi, but when I do that it wont connect, same problem.

I've also tried removing the password from my wifi AP, but still doesn't work.

Good think the Kobo Desktop is only available for Windows and Mac, and I run Linux... so now I can't setup my device. Grrr

Went and borrowed a friend's mac, and setup the kobo with the Desktop. It sync'd and everything looked normal on the device, but I still can't connect to the network. I noticed that it updated to 3.3.0 firmware revision in the process.

I'm doing another factory reset to see if that helps.

Rather than a factory reset that will have reverted the f/w back to the original on your unit, you could have tried a logout from Kobo account on the device itself (under settings), that would drop the database but leave the f/w in place.

Some Kobos have had issues with certain brands of WiFi routers, but I will admit, we've not seen many reports on that issue of late.

Its strange, because I was using the wifi connected to this same wifi AP just before I restarted it and then couldn't connect. So it can't be my particular Wifi AP... I've tried removing the password, setting it to G only, B only, nothing...

I've just tried that, but after it resets and asks me to sign-in, I get the same error.

Oddly, I waited until just after 1am, and tried again and it worked... i wonder if there is some time element at play.

A possible time element is the DHCP lease length. It might have started working when this expired and the device received a new address. There has been an issue related to this, but I thought it had been fixed for 3.3.0. One thing that has helped in the past is to reserve the IP address for the device on the router.
