CC & Fire HD .... ?

Just wondered if Chaley & Co have had any success with/progress on, a CC version for the Kindle Fire ?
Having got an HD for Christmas, I'd dearly love to make it join all my other devices in the Calibre stable .........

Or is it likely to be a forlorn hope, and I should pull meself together and get on with life .......

For whatever reason, Amazon decided the end of last year to add CC to the Kindle app store. Lots of people have bought it (several hundred), which was our first clue that something had changed at Amazon. Many have left favorable reviews.

We don't have a Fire so we cannot personally vouch for how well CC runs on one, but the reviews indicate that it does seem to work.

It is an app that acts as a calibre device over wifi and connects to calibre's content server. The CC FAQ gives more information.

I can vouch that the latest version (Google Play) of CC runs fine on the 1st Gen Kindle HD (rooted).

What happens on your HD when you "Send a debug log to MultiPie" (settings, scroll to the bottom)? Do you see some text and an attachment? We have been getting empty messages and are wondering if Amazon's email program doesn't accept attachments added programmatically.

I think it's more of an Amazon issue more than anything. CC runs great on my HDX 8.9 and is listed as a compatible device in Amazon's app store for the HDX. For some reason it appears that some Fire models aren't authorized even though it will run on them. Perhaps at one time Amazon thought it was a reader app and so it wasn't authorized at the time those specific models were around and it got flagged as okay for the HDX, but not backdated to the earlier models or something? For me my HDX would probably go unused if I couldn't run CC and Moon+ Pro or Mantano.

Yeah, there's no attachment when I do that.
Not sure if I know of any official Amazon apps that do something similar (to help test if programmatically attaching a file is even possible with their email program). Is there a temporary file created somewhere, that I can look for to see if it's getting that far?

I found some amazon documentation that says that they do not use/respect the same API that gmail uses. Tomorrow's prerelease uses the API that Amazon says they *do* use. We will see.

As for temporary files, no. The information is passed by CC to Android using what Android calls an "Intent", and it is up the receiving app to interpret the data in the Intent. We know the data arrives because gmail uses it. Just as clearly from your test, the amazon app does not.
