Why is Kobo still selling the glo?
The Aura (non-HD) is the successor to the Glo. So why is Kobo still selling the Glo? And when do you expect them to stop selling it?

They are still selling the Glo because it is still selling. It is noticeable cheaper then the Aura. Personally, I don't see the advantage. If I was spending the extra money, I would go up to the Aura HD.

Personally I much prefer the Glo over the Aura, so I'm happy they're still selling it. I'd never get a larger reader eitiher, so you could say I prefer the Glo over the Aura HD as well.
Not everyone has the same tastes. I'm not pushing for either Aura to be dropped because I don't prefer them. |

It doesn't make sense to me. The two products compete with each other. I mainly asking because I'm wondering what models Kobo plan to continue with. AFAIU the Aura is non-Androidable.

That can be said of every reader Kobo sells, they all compete with each other. By that reasoning, Kobo should be selling only one reader, but thankfully (for now at least), there's room for both 6" versions.
And there's enough differences between them that I consider them entirely different readers. Infrared vs capacitive touch, and soft non-glare bezel vs shiny flat screen, which are the 2 biggest factors for me why I wouldn't switch to an Aura ever, even if they discontinued the Glo. I'd hunt down a spare Glo in that event at least, if I didn't find anything else that suited me and my usage. |

why would they stop? If it is a successful seller(it is )and it is making them money(it is)? There are lots of consumers out there that want a Glo, Lots of Consumers out there that want a Mini, Lots of Consumers that want the Aura HD, Lots of consumers that want the Aura, and lots of consumers that want them all. So in effect what is wrong with keeping the Glo around? Nothing at all other then the fact it seems to bother you that it is. While I can't argue that logic with you, I would agree though that it is time for new iteration to come about and force us all to reevaluate our readers and run out and buy the latest that Kobo has to offer. Personally I am going to try to hold out for the one with the soft ice Cream maker/personal force shield and active location Teleporter before I buy the next one at that point when its released I will definitely be saying why are they still selling the glo, min, aura hd and the Aura when they have all these new features(it might have to do with the power supply being a small city block but who can say)

I meant the area where the matte bezel is on the Glo... on the Aura, that area is the same as the screen, which is shinier than the Glo just by being glass, and will reflect more than the Glo. To sensitive eyes, it's definitely not as good a reading experience as with the perfectly matte bezel of the Glo.

To most users, there is no difference berween the aura and glo. They are both 6". Interestingly the aura is on sale and not the glo...atm I can get an aura cheaper than a glo.But of course, I want an aura HD!

Several reasons:
1) The Glo is still in stock, why pull the product when you can sell it. 2) The Glo is cheaper than the Aura. |

Why does Apple continue selling the ipad 2 and the iPhone 4s? Why does Sony keep selling the PS3?
