More realistically, In the UK, CeX has one in stock at a retail price of £92.

Depending on where you live, you might be getting an Onyx. I believe they are releasing a 9.7" soon.

1) What do you mean by a "regular book"? 2) The Kindle DX-G will read mobi files and most PDFs. 3) calibre is your good buddy and can (with a little help from another good buddy named 'Alf') magically transform your epubs into a mobi file. 4) Happy Mother's Day! ![]() |

Since the majority of people bought DX for reading pdfs anyway, installing kindlepdfviewer or Duokan is must, because DX's native pdf reader is not good enough to say the least. Last edited by markom; 05-11-2014 at 05:00 PM. |

![]() Is it fair to say if I don't read PDF and textbook often, DX doesn't provide enough value compare to other kindle devices such as kindle 4? |

I just picked mine up a month or so ago when they did the 5 payment deal. I wanted page turn buttons, a keyboard and speakers and the large screen for reading.
The ability to read a PDF wasn't an issue as my iPad blows it away for that but I still like the large screen over my K2 for reading books. |

I carry it in a backpack with all my other stuff including an iPad so the weight isn't an issue really. It's a lot heavier than my old K2 and actually heavier than my iPad with its cover but it's probably lighter and easier to hold than a typical Stephen King 1100 page shelf bender.

I only read mine while at home, but it has since taken a back seat due to my recent purchase of a Kobo Aura HD, which has a smaller screen but is frontlit. But still, for reading a LOT of text on one screen (and one that mimics a hardback), the Kindle DX-G is an extremely nice reader. |

I doubt that statement is backed up by any research. I suspect you are making assumptions based on your own experience or needs. It might have been designed for reading text books, but it failed miserably in the market place as such.
