woordenboeken in ereaders

- if that was awful, blame Google translate.

It will depend on the reader brand and model. Kindles, Sonys, and Pocketbooks I know you can... others? |

i have a pocketbook touch and a sony pr2. Both only have english dictionaries. Pocketbook claims to have dictionaries on its website but not anymore. You have to make do with the ones in their software updates.

Yvonne, search in the Pocketbook subforum and in the German Pocketbook subforum for "dictionary" or "Wörterbuch". For instance, you will find something in this post https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...7&postcount=74 not sure, if it helps. |

If you read many French and German books, your best bet would be an Android based smartphone or tablet, because for some odd reason Van Dale only sells their Dutch dictionaries in the Google play store.

Moved to the Pocketbook forum, given that it's not possible to install additional dictionaries on the Sony.

Translation from french or german to english is not the problem. Those dictionary's are pre-installed or else easy to find. But it would be so much easier to have a direct translation from german or french to dutch.

If you do happen to find a good Public Domain word list, contact German MR user SIRSteiner. He might be able to convert it for you. However, don't expect him to convert a Van Dale bootleg copy to the Pocketbook format.

Thanks for checking. I've visited all forums and sites on this subject and it seems hopeless. I'm beginning to suspect that the publishers out there would like to get rid of small-country-languages like dutch and make english the official language. Making decent dictionaries for those lousy 16 million readers is just to much trouble. |

Depends on your reader I guess. When you, e.g., buy a Sony reader in Belgium, there are 5 dictionaries on it for Dutch (twelve dictionaries in total). |

They're losing a lot of money because of this stupid decision, but I guess they don't need it.

O wait, it doesn't, only English to Dutch and VV. It has Ger, It, Fr and Es dictionaries, but only to English. I overlooked that. I only read Dutch and English books, so I've never used the German and French dictionaries. |
