What format is the eBook in now?

If it is easily gotten to .txt, I would use something like WordPad, or even Notepad. You would loose features like italics. I wouldn't care, but others feel differently.

Most are in mobipocket but I don't have many so converting will not be a problem.

I would imagine so, since calibre comes as a standalone binary package. The only requirements are: the linux kernel, glibc 2.10+, and an i686/x64 processor (old ARM packages are available for raspberry pi through the distro).

I don't know how well it will run on 64 MB ram. You might get better mileage out of fbreader.

The important thing is not restricting yourself to 15-year-old windows. DSL is a little newer than that.

Actually none of those links work. However, there is an archive for Mobipocket Reader on the web but I don't have a link but a search should find it.
