KPW2: Unable to restart
I have been trying to solve this since last night
My KPW2 screen was stuck on a page and even after pressing the power button for few seconds would just make the light fade for 1-2 secs and will go back to that same page. So i decided to wait until the battery goes flat as even switching it off will not make it return to screen saver page or switch off the backlight Then I recharged the KPW2 again and it went to the connect to charger screen so I left it at that for a while. When I came back it was on the 'tree' screen and nothing else was happening, so I decided to do the reset again and it changed to the 'updating software screen'. After 1 hour the progress bar would was stuck at zero progress and even reseting the kindle would just fade the backlight for a second and that's how it is until now. Could anyone help? (Sorry for the long post) |

Do you not have to hold down the power button for 20 seconds?

That doesn't sound good. In particular, the fact that it crashed (or re-crashed) during an update is potentially very, very bad.
(FWIW, the screen doesn't actually refresh until somewhat late in the initial boot process, which in itself is another good indicator that something seriously bad happened if you see the LED & backlight react, but not the later stages). And since this is a PW, short of opening it up and babysitting the boot process over serial, your best bet might very well be a call to Kindle CS. On a more general note: letting the battery of a Kindle go flat, even to try to debug an issue, is nearly always a very, very bad idea, no matter the model ![]() Last edited by NiLuJe; 05-16-2014 at 08:53 PM. |

I managed reboot it again as I have let the battery go flat again. This time it rebooted with the tree picture with no issues
It also went through the update process automatically after a tense few seconds of waiting, the progress bar moved and now I can get back to my reading Thanks for reading and the suggestions |

Huh. Weird, I'd monitor the battery life and general behaviour, but glad it seems to be alive now.
