Replacing Cover Images in metadata
I have downloaded an older book, and initially generated a cover, as an original cover wasn't available. I then discovered that I could copy a cover image from elsewhere and place it in the cover box on the edit metadata page. Is there some way I should to save this new image ? because, when I copy the mobi copy of the book, together with the revised cover, and the opf file, from calibre to my Ereader (Book Bazaar) it still shows the book with the generated cover. Help !

The "Polish Book" feature would be the right tool.

If you had used one of the Send methods, the books metadata should have updated in the process.
If that did not happen, possibly: 1)the books cover was not properly identified 2)you have made a preference setting in Output options that stops this Polish updates the Library copy for most formats. Modify EPUB (the PI) does this for EPUB |

If you are using the MOBI format, only a full conversion will "update" the cover by adding it in at the beginning (in addition to the one there already, I believe). MOBI doesn't internally understand covers, and nothing will update them

Problem solved
I want to thank all of you guys who responded to me request for help on the book cover problem I was having in Calibre.
You'll be pleased to know I solved the problem, as follows - 1. Add the Mobi book in Calibre. 2. Convert to Epub (which creates one Epub and one Mobi book. 3. Edit metadata on the Epub book. (Download a cover or copy an image) 4. Delete the Mobi book (which obviously deletes the old metadata. 5. Convert the Epub book to Mobi, and voila, I have an Epub and a Mobi book, both with the new cover that I required. Regards, and thanks again |
