Layout request
Hi,
I use Calibre now for some time and very happy with this program. In my Calibre Library I keep the books I have read and mark it in a special new collumn as "Yes, read" in color red. I keep the books in case I want to read again or send to a friend. As I have many books which I did not read yet, I wonder if it would be possible (in the future) to change the whole line of books already read into another color in order to make it more easy to distinguish the books amongst all books. In this way it would be much easier to trace and to add new books to my Sony E-reader. My apologies in case my English not clear but I am Dutch and English is not my native language. So I do hope you understand what I mean ![]() |

Why not look in Preferences | Interface | Look and Feel | Column Coloring
I have a setting Code:
Set the color of All Columns to green if the following conditions are met: * if the Kobo Read Percentage is equal to value: 100 * if the OnDevice column is true value: |

Hi Peter,
first of all thanks for your reply. What I am looking for is not to color a column but a line in Calibre. Example: I have 10 Tom Clancy books. Have read 8 of them, these lines I would like to mark red. The 2 lines with unread books stay black. When I add new books to Tom Clancy collection they appear in black lines so easy to find. I do not have a Kobo but a Sony PRS-T2 ereader so I do not know if I can change like you did. |

The column colouring includes "All columns". Selecting that with an appropriate condition should do what you want.

As David said.... My example was using data specific to MY habits / configuration.
What I wanted YOU to see was the concept and the use of "All Columns". |

It currently only changes the font color of the line's text, though. I wonder, would it be possible to change other aspects of the style? Make it bold, italic, change the size, maybe change the line background color?
Although depending on the rules used, this has the potential of an LSD simulator. Or at the very least, a Geocities-style wreck. |

I am an old and very unexperienced Calibre/Computer user. English is not even my native English so I was trying to find a simple solution for my issue. I did add a column and when I add sentence "YES, have read" it is in red color but I am looking for option that whole line turns red. Anyway thanks for your advice (my apologies for my late reply but have been on holiday for some days here in Thailand). Last edited by Rob1706; 05-14-2014 at 07:58 AM. |

Coloring rules affect the color of the text in the cells. They cannot affect a cell's background color.
If coloring all the text in a row is not sufficient, perhaps using different column icons could satisfy the need? One icon for read, another for want to read, a third for who-knows-what. Adding a custom column, putting that column at the far left (column 1) then adding icons to that column would allow you to determine visually the state of the book. You don't even need to put any data into the custom column. Alternatively, add the icon to whatever left-most column you have, usually Title. |

First of all my apologies for reacting late but was on a short holdiay on Koh Chang Thailand.
After reading answers again understood what was meant and add another rule. Now layout is exactly like I wanted it to be. Many many thanks for all your help. Sorry for misinterpreting your advices. |

thanks for showing me the right direction. Finally I found out how to do it. Have been retired for a while and forgot a little about how to set condition. Works fine now. |
