These iPods are new devices and the latest generation, so this is a huge savings. Looks like Apple is clearing out stock to make room for new models. Normal release month for iPods is September.

Currently, iPods appear to be on a two-year release cycle. The iPod touch 5 and iPod nano 7 were last upgraded in Oct 2012, so keep in mind that they're running on old hardware. Because the iPod touch 5 uses the same hardware as the iPhone 4S (Oct 2011), that hardware is nearly three years-old.

I like my 64GB one. I like my Nano too, but I wouldn't buy another one if I'm honest. Not because it isn't any good, but it's not as nice as the iPod Classics.

I have an iPod classic 80 gig that I never use anymore. These newer ones seem more attractive, although I do not own one.

Isn't it more convenient to have music in the Cloud?

What is it that makes these newer units "not as nice"?

I'd say it depends on what you're using it for. Most people I know with iPods now only use them for music a fraction of the time.

It's convenient, but I always forget it's there and shuffle through my local media instead. I don't always know what I want to listen to when I want to put on some music, so most of the time I open up Spotify and go "What now?!" iTunes Radio/Songza/TuneIn/Radium work better for me for that reason.

The current Nano isn't very comfortable to use like the past iPods. It doesn't have enough bulk to sit in your pocket, and it's so thin that any other headphones besides the included EarPods will make it tilt to the side when it's on a flat surface. On mine, you can actually see the glue they used to stick the screen on showing through whenever it's syncing.

It doesn't have a hold button either.

It looks nice, but that's about it.
