PW wall adapter
Hi all! Will be purchasing a PW and have a question about wall adapters. I have read many threads here about them that say don't use anything but the amazon designed wall adapter to you can use any adapter that you want. A little confusing! LOL Some people even said that their reader was fried by not using a proprietary one. I have many of these hanging around the house and would like to avoid buying another if I can. The one I use for almost all my things is an Asus usb wall adapter that came with my Nexus 7. Input 100-240V at 0.25A and output 5.2V and 1.35A. It just seems stupid to buy a $20 one just because it says Amazon on it, but I suppose it's money spent wisely if something else is going to toast my reader.

I have not had any problem charging my PW with chargers I have around the house. Some being a Motorola, Galaxy, IHome radio, any micro charger and cord have been used without any problems.

I haven't had any problems using a different charger either. I was even able to use my Kindle charger on my HTC One.

As everybody above, no problems here either, although I've only had the PW a few months. I just use the cable that came with the kindle in the adapter I use for my phone.

Wow fast answering! Thanks all. I'm also assuming that it's best not to use screen protectors with kindle (as probably most touch screen ereaders). I put everything I buy in protective cases. (Always careful with my electronics). Use screen protectors on my nexus 7 and phones. I have never had a touch screen ereader but the finish on the screens are different than my Nexus. From what I understand you don't really need one for Kindle. Is that right?

Regarding Kindles getting fried from using a non-Amazon charger...
That can happen, but only when the charger is one of those cheap $2 piece of junk from China or Kong Kong. HK manufacturers don't use UL listing and they have NO quality control. As long as it's a trusted brand, any micro USB charger will do the job and be perfectly safe for your Kindle. |

Excellent! Then one of the half dozen I have for phone and my Nexus 7 should work! Thanks Vmurph. (That will free up the 20 for more books!) |

Like the other members, I use iPhone/Galaxy wall adapters for charging my Kindle PW and haven't experienced any issues.

1.35A isn't enough to cause any problem. Don't worry.
