Good to know, guess I better check to see how many devices I have since there is a 30 day window to clear a device. I am curious are they only counting your prime-eligible devices or all devices on your account??

YW

All devices - you can have as many devices as you want registered to your Amazon account, but only 10 of them will be allowed to play music from your Music Library; which includes music you own and Prime Music. Of those 10 devices, only 4 of them will be allowed to download Prime Music.

It does! It applies to all music you have stored in their cloud. I frequently reach that limit and have to choose which device to drop in order to add another one.

Remember, a device is anything that will play music you have stored in Amazon's cloud - including phones, tablets, computers, Roku, Fire TV, etc.

Yep it's been that way since the beginning. I had to get support to clear off all devices and start over last Christmas when I went through many Tablets. There is a one time a year button where you can do this yourself.

It takes 30 days to deauthorize a device and the slot to become available.

Well here's the thing about PCs it takes two slots. One for the Player and One for the uploader. I told support that isn't fair. It should count as one device.

You're right, it ain't fair! That's something I didn't know, because I never had the Importer installed. The only music I have in Amazon's cloud is from Amazon. Anyway, I just installed the Importer, but I haven't authorized it yet. I only have a few slots open and I'm not wasting one for an Importer I haven't needed. Thanks for the heads up.

Yikes in that case I know I have reached my limit because I didn't take into account the computer, roku or 3 devices smart tvs I have linked to my account for Prime Video. I don't recall if those have actually used the music app.

Where do I go to see all my devices, is there a place where they are all listed??

EDIT: Ok after a google search I found it, I have 14 registered devices and I know half of them are old devices because I do not have 5 Vizio tvs or 4 Fire's. My biggest worry is two of those Vizio's are correct, now how the heck will I figure out which should stay. Ugh!!

Best thing to do is hit the clear all for the year and start over. You will have to reauthorize all devices so have them next to you.

Here's the link
Click the Deauthorize all devices. This time give each Device a unique name as you authorize them one by one.

I talked to Amazon CS and they helped me. Though I am relieved to know that device limitation is only for the music service. You can authorize/deauthorize video devices as often as you wish without having to wait. I wish they gave you a way to name devices because some of them were very generic. The music devices are ok because they have unique names and I didn't have many devices linked there. LOL, the videos not so much.

I've got to figure out which of my multiple "Android" listings are which and clear off the ones that belong to returned devices.

I finally got my first Kindle (Fire HDX) and I noticed that the generated listing on the Amazon site just showed it as "(my name's) Kindle". I quickly changed that to the exact model name - lol.

I use model names to avoid confusion.

Once a year, you're allowed to wipe the slate clean by deauthorizing all devices and starting all over. That'll eliminate devices no longer being used. Then add active devices back one at a time, changing the device name before proceeding to the next one.

If you deauthorize all devices, you have to wait 365 days before you can do it again. If you deauthorize just one device, you have to wait 30 days before you can use that slot again.
