original file name column

First of all i dont want to change the calibre folder structure.

Ok now that everyone stoped screaming I'll ask my question:
How can i make a costom column, for the original file names (from before the books were added to calibre library). if it's not possible for previous ebooks at least for new ones.

You can make any custom text , column you want.
But you are going to have to type in the name as you add the book.
AFAIK Calibre does not record the file name on ADD.

Always run the debug log, the name might be there.

What do you do if you have 2 formats of the same book
AND
the file names are different?

might as well change the title for the same price

I don't. (unless you mean because of converting with calibre. it should always keep the original.)
i just want it temporarily to name the titles properly and sort them like Windows did.

I have a custom column of type=text, called "#origfile", which I use to store the official Amazon filename of my books. (This allows me to download the book with the Amazon book metadata -- pagenumbers and annotations -- then overwrite the book with my calibre copy that has fixed title/authors.)

The only real trick is making sure to always copy over that info (NOT the file extension, though

) whenever you add a new book -- and, the first time, adding in the data for all your current books

!

the books were in html format when added. and the html file still has the same name. inside the zip and azw3 ebooks.
