Astraware's Strange Adventures in Infinite Space

I've been trying out this game on my T3 and I REALLY like this game!

I'm a big fan of PC to Palm game ports and this one is no exception. I haven't played the PC (Digital Eel) version, but I understand that it's a very faithful port!

You are basically a wanna-be space pilot/trader taking on a job from some shady character who supplies you with a substandard spacecraft with minimal weaponry and equipment. It's your task to fly out into the galaxy and explore the different planets and acquire as many cool and rare items you can find. The rarer the better! Along the way there will be saboteurs, black holes, supernovas, and mean aliens who just want to blast your butt into space dust. Also, you meet space traders and fellow space pilots willing to help - for a price. If you survive all that and you come back to your home planet with all the goodies, your slimy boss will reward you handsomely! (Note, you must finish your quest in two space years) Easier said than done!

Why do I like this game?

First, its VERY easy to learn and play at the start. The tutorial is very easy to follow.

Second, games can be finished in 5 - 20 minutes. This is very important for me - I don't like games that you have to play for hours on end. It's great to play in between tasks or meetings if you need a quick game fix

Third, the gameplay is turn based (except when it comes to the combat mode), so it's a good mix - not too slow, but not too tense.

Fourth, the graphics are superb! Eye candy!

Is there anything negative about SAIS? Well when I tried it out on a fully app loaded T2 - the program refused to run (not enough heap memory). Astraware's tech support admitted that SAIS is a resource hog, and needs a good chunk of heap memory to run (future revisions MAY fix this). The only way I got it to run was do a Warm Reset (but no enhanced sound will play) or a Hard reset (no way will I do it for just ONE game).

On the T3, however, it plays wonderfully! No qualms compared to the T2 problems I had earlier.

Hope this mini-review helps your gaming needs. PM me or reply to this thread if you have any questions!

Happy Gaming folks!

When I get my T5, this is one of the games I'd like to give a try. Thanks for the review!

A direct link to the Astraware page for the game would probably help others to find it.
