Kobo Mini help keeping WiFi alive
Hi all, I am really new to Kobo having bought a mini to use with SCsoar and a GPS module (got the software working but not had time to hack in the hardware yet0 I was so impressed I bought another one for general playing around.
So far I have worked out resizing the data partition and getting telnet working and installing python, but what is infuriating me is the WiFi keeps going to sleep on me. i am typically using a telnet client on an iPad and every few minutes I lose the connection - I have worked out that tapping sync on the home screen wakes up the wifi again and I can carry on working but having sniffed aournd I cant find where this wifi sleep is controlled from. I would be really grateful for any hints on how I can get this working, I hae vague plans to use the mini as a internet connected display panel, it will probably be mains powered so I am not too concerned about the increased power usage. thanks in advance. |

If you don't need nickel while using telnet, you can kill it in order to keep the telnet session alive. If you need nickel, look in the patcher threads for the Wi-Fi insomnia patch, or in http://ux.getuploader.com/KOBO_HACK/index for the keepalive library.

Alternatively, disable auto sleep and open the web browser (beta features). It will keep the wifi on. Tested on my glo.

Thanks for the replies, killing nickel does the trick for me. Once I get a bit more familiar with things I may look into the patch route but for now I'm up and running.
