Automatically delete on import?

I have a feeling this could have been addressed already -- If so, I had trouble locating that thread. I'm interested in configuring Calibre to automatically delete books from their original directory that it then imports into its own directory (so that I don't have two of the same file on my hard drive). I understand the wisdom of enabling the user to delete files himself, but I'm in favor of the more convenient method here...

Thanks!

Tim

This is possible when using the Automatic Adding. It is in fact necessary, or else you'd re-import the same books endlessly.

For regular adding, however, I believe it was deemed too risky since it WOULD end up being used accidentally... you know it would...

You have to put the books in the designated folder - ie its a preset folder, not any folder.

eschwartz I just noticed my default Windows image editor, Irfan View, also has an option to delete its MRU list - I've been using IV for at least 15 years, and I use its MRU all the time - one never stops learning

I'd overlooked that solution, which is more than good enough! Thanks! TP

Indeed. Didn't really expect to hear of programs like that myself.

@tapeter, you're welcome.

Photoshop has a clear list menu choice in the recent list just like IrfanView's too.

Office Suite applications can be cleared as well (although buried down in the menu tree a bit; at least as at 2007 version).

Probably some others, those ones just come to mind.

Buried's right, Office->Word Options->Advanced->Display->Show this number of Recent Documents - set to 0, press OK, set back to whatever (defaults 17) press OK. I don't know if it has to be a prime, never been game to try a non-prime
