What do you like / miss on your e-Reader?
My cybook Odyssey Frontlight Hd
like: - small and light enough that it can be held with one hand, turning pages with the well placed physical button or touch screen; - possibility to invert colors and dim light right down to be able to read in bed without disturbing sleeping beauty lying next to me; - possibility to have current ( or any ) book cover as general wallpaper; - possibility to delete books directly from the device. - the ever lasting battery - the ever easy drag and drop from the web and computer. No need for hook ups with the majors. Miss: - would have been nice to have a clock somewhere in a corner; - some kind of indication of percentage of pages read (a battery meter type?), rather than "23 of 654". Having said that - this is a pretty good device that I always have with me, especially when I leave the house! Last edited by CBG; 03-31-2014 at 08:49 AM. |

I really like my kindle PW2 and don't think there is much that can be improved in comparisin to the exisiting readers. Just wish that some day it will integrate with pocket, not that they are planing to anyway!

I miss the Alt/next page feature that my K1 had, to go forward a chunk of pages. Also the menu item for full/left justification. Sometimes I get a book with left justification, and I'd like to be able to override that (I like full justification). Actually, I also liked the way the Content Manager worked, where you could download multiple books at one time, or delete multiple books at one time.

The Kindle Touch/PW1/PW2 can download multiple books at once -- just tap each book (in the Cloud tab) and they will queue up and start downloading. I guess it's more difficult for non-touchscreen devices as you need to maneuver around with the keyboard/controller.
By swiping up/down I can move through the ToC entries, which means I can easily skip to the next chapter -- I believe that is what you mean by "go forward a chunk of pages"? I use calibre to delete multiple books at a time, but that isn't ideal, I suppose. |

Paperwhite 2 vs Kindle Keyboard:
I didn't think I would like the touch screen, but now that I've used it, I couldn't see going back. I find I won't miss the physical keyboard a bit. I like the light, of course. I like the option of showing books by cover. Highlighting is very convenient on the Paperwhite. I do miss the audio, I used to use TTS, especially while driving. Some of the apps that worked with my Kindle Keyboard don't work with the Paperwhite. I used to play Settlers of Catan on the KK, but it won't work on the Paperwhite. I wish the "page back" area was in the right side of the screen rather than on the left. I hold the Kindle with my left hand, so I could turn the page with just a click of my thumb. |

Likes: - Portability - Sharp clear text with good font/margin control - Frontlight is nice and even - Touch or swipe page turns - Battery life - Pocket integration! (hands down the feature I never knew I wanted/needed when I bought an ereader but wouldn't want to do without now). Miss: - I do miss the spatial sense of a real book - The list-view of library could easily show many more books per page |

Like: - Small/lightweight - Has buttons, not just touch-screen - Multiple dictionaries, including both US and UK English dictionaries. - Ability to download directly from public library (I usually prefer to use my PC to browse and download, and then transfer to the reader, but occasionally I do use the direct function if I am away from home) If I were to buy a new reader I might get a lighted one, but that is not a huge need for me. |

Nook HD+
Love: Screen size Screen resolution Android tablet flexibility (running CyanogenMod firmware) Expandable memory Simple drag'n'drop file transfers Like: Moonreader+ and Mantano Premium readers Price (bought it on end-of-line sale) Simple, functional aesthetic Miss (or wish it had?): GPS Matte screen Don't Like: Merely adequate battery life Fixed battery Long charge time Occasionally touch interface slows to a crawl. Sometimes a standby/resume clears the problem, sometimes needs a reboot. May be down to the firmware though. Loathe: Proprietory connector I don't know what if anything I'd replace it with at this point in time. Last edited by badgerboy; 04-01-2014 at 01:05 PM. |

Like: * buttons for page turns, * cover art when in sleep mode, * ability to download books over wi-fi. * Also, it's shiny. ![]() Miss: * I haven't figured out how to set and go to favorites in the web browser, so I have to manually search for the sites each time. Not terribly important; I just felt like I had to put down *something* I didn't like. ![]() |
