Hello

Bill here, located in Northern Cal, Bay Area.

No Sony reader yet, canceled order for the Kindle.

Looks like Sony is the only other comparable choice?

Wish I could find a reader designed by readers instead of ones designed engineers and "designers".

My primary reading interest is history in general (and all the classics I'll never get around to).

Nice to meet other members of a dwindling breed.

Welcome to MobileRead. I'm sorry that you canceled the order for the Kindle (since I have one and like it very much), but you are likely to discover that the Sony will work for you. There's also the Cybook. Classic books are easy to come by in both the Mobipocket and Sony formats. Recently pubished histories are certainly available for the Kindle; I would guess they are available for other readers.

Be sure to check out the books that have been placed here for download. And, you can download programs here that will allow you to build your own books.

Hey, welcome in tofuwa!
Actually the reader WAS designed by reading people. Let me tell you a secret and don't tell any one (They read us on this site!)
All our wish lists have been examined and been taken care of. Of course we did not get everything yet but some of it might be in the works.

Don't hesitate to criticize and add to the lists. You can start here if you wish.

Or the CyBook. If you aren't tied to eInk the Jetbook. If you want something backlight the eBookWise. So, yes there are other options.

You have a pretty unlimited budget for classics. Well, not all classics are in the public domain, but a goodly number of them.
