Have one on order and plan to use as one of my readers. I actually like reading ebooks on a phone, when it's straight prose and the content layout works well on the narrow screen.

Looks like a sweet upgrade over my S8. Although from a perspective of reading ebooks, I don't think it'll be that much different. In fact I'm planning to keep my S8 as a backup phone and as a wifi-only device primarily for reading ebooks and saving the battery in my primary phone.

Always disliked Samsung, until I ended up with a secondhand S7 Edge. Almost three years later it's still a solid phone, but I find myself wanting a bigger screen as well as more storage and cameras. I have therefore preordered the S10+, which is something I usually don't do, but in this case I did want the new Galaxy Buds that they are offering with preorders.

How cool is it that they've kept the SD card slot (and headphone jack)? You can have 1.5 Tb of storage in your pocket, which I plan on using to keep a local backup of all my data with me at all times.

Also, it has 5 cameras, which is crazy but awesome. I'll be backpacking Europe for 3 months later this year and I can't wait to see the beautiful shots that I can get with the S10+.

That thing has more processing power than some laptops. And definitely more than the previous laptop I owned about 6 years ago, prior to my current HP x360. I bet you'll love it for photography; eager to hear your feedback.

My current S8 enables me to capture RAW files when I shoot pictures, which I have auto-uploaded to my Onedrive daily. I've been using the OSS app DarkTable to process the RAW files and then work with them in Affinity Photo. I am stunned at the quality of photos I can get out of that skinny little phone. It has its limitations due to the lens of course, the fixed f-stop range, and not very good in low light situations for example. Supposedly the S10 cameras will improve some of those capabilities even more, esp low light shooting, image stabilization, and video.

{A little off topic, but in case useful}

I have been using Adobe Lightroom for image management and development but wanted to abandon it due to Adobe's move to subscription based use. So I had a play around with the current versions of the freebees; digiKam, RawTherapee and darktable. For me RawTherapee came out tops by far for developing RAW and is what I have started using. digiKam for image management I found to be very efficient and it imported my tags tree, etc. from Adobe so am using that.

If not tried already, RawTherapee might be worth checking out.

Regarding phones and cameras, Nokia have just released the N9 Pureview which looks interesting (conjures up memories of the old Nokia 808 Pureview) https://www.gsmarena.com/nokia_9_pur...eview-1895.php .

Yep we have similar tastes in graphics apps I guess. I've tried and used all three of those you mention. And of those, I settled on digikam as you did for image management (I didn't like the results of their RAW processing tools, even though they use a good OSS RAW library), and DarkTable for RAW handling (I got as good results there as with RawTherapee, and slightly preferred the UI and image tagging features--the image management is good enough for my needs that I may just dispense with digikam as well).
