Desktop 3.6 Home Screen Woes!!!

So interestingly enough I connected my Aura Hd to the the computer and thought to add some books, actually did not get around to do so but no worries it needed a charge anyway. However imagine my shock that all the tiles were gone from my home screen except for the unblock it tile. Fw 3.1.1
Looks like the new Desktop software is the culprit.

My question is two fold:

1) Has anyone else encountered this issue ?
2) Is there a workaround so that the tiles do not vanish from the screen?

regards

Jack
