Using Calibre with Sony PRS-T3 Reader
Hi All,
I don't have my reader yet, it's on order, but I'm preparing my library for it. My intention is to get the MicroSD card so I can keep my entire library at any time. Because of this, I think my library needs to be well organised so I can navigate easily once the books are on the Sony. Does anyone have any tips on anything special I need to do with the metadata to translate over to "Collections" or "Shelves" on the Sony? I have started using the Hierarchical custom columns from the Calibre menu as a "Genre" column which is working well in Calibre - but will the Genre be available on the Sony? Is there any field in Calibre that can translate to Collections/Bookshelves/Folders/Genres on the Sony? Many thanks |

I just got a new Prs -T3 & use a custom genre column, which I use as a collection on my reader Alongside series.
You need to configure the device to let calibre know to use this colum for collections Preferences> Plugins> Device Interface Plugins > Sony PRST1 & Newer>customise plugin Now add the name of the column you want to translate to collections in the appropriate box > OK > Apply Don't forget to add the # before your column name An easier way to get to the customisation screen is with the device pluged in click on the downward arrow beside the device button> configure device |

Thanks for that, useful information!
One problem I've got with books in series, is they are not in order of the series as the Sony doesn't know about Series [#]. How do you solve this? Is it best to keep the series name/number in the title to ensure they are sorted on the Sony? Like "Robots [01] - I, Robot" |

You can do that with a plugboad. See https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=118563 for some examples.

Great thanks. Had some trouble at first since I applied the plug board to epub instead of devicedb but got it working in the end.
Cheers |

Sony calibre drivers etc. are the best at collections probably because they have been around a long time
![]() The Tweak Specify how SONY collections are sorted gives lots of options. sony_collection_sorting_rules = [(['author_sort'], 'series_index')] will sort your series collections automatically. I use a plugboard as well because I like to see the series name and number. {authors}{series:| - | }{series_index:0>2s} destination authors gives author name series name series number in the author field where the text is smaller so it displays well.
