Anyone know how the warranty works with Best Buy? Would I deal with Amazons returns and replacements? Is there any disadvantage to buying from Best Buy instead of Amazon?

I finally decided on a paperwhite purchase. Does this mean they are trying to get rid of stock for PW 3? They have ipad mini on sale for $50 off, pretty sure there's no new one of that coming. Probably just valentines day discount.

Waiting daily for PW 3 can be long time. Maybe I will use this offer. arggh!

I bought my Kindle Keyboard from Best Buy and it died at one year and one month. I'd gotten a two year warranty from them, and they replaced it no questions asked.

Does anyone know if once you register your kindle with amazon, are you then under 1 year manufacturing warranty through amazon and they will replace if anything wonky happens? I trust Amazon in that dept and Best Buy far less. I'm also concerned about returns since I'd like to be sure to end up with a screen I'm happy with.

Do these have bad electronics? I treat my items with due care. I should get a warranty?
Generally I don't buy that.
Is that something needed at time of purchase or sometime later?

Yeah $99 sounds decent. I paid $119 for the 1st PW, it still works fine. I just like newer updated toys. Amazon seems to discount the KFHD more than the PW when the new one comes out from what I remember.

I would rather buy from Amazon because they work with you more if you have problems down the road. I won't buy extended warranties. My Kindles have never died on me yet. I have the Kindle DX and the Kindle keyboard.

I thought for sure Amazon would price match, but they said no. Kinda surprised because Best Buy would price match Amazon.

Blossom answered this question for me a while back, she said Amazon does honor the warranty. But still I personally would rather go with Amazon to be safe. But price is a factor too I know.

I had to exchange my KFHD and it was many many months later (close to the year) and it was no problem from Amazon. The battery wasn't lasting long, but I have since discovered it is the way the KFHD battery is, doesn't last long. I think it is the Audible App that drains the battery, or other apps, but anyway this has nothing to do with your comment. Sorry. Point is Amazon takes care of their customers. Just wish they price matched!

I don't think Amazon has ever had a release cycle for the e-ink Kindle that was less than a year, give or take. I see no reason to believe that Amazon would release a new one earlier than the Fall. So this looks like a good deal.
