I just read this news that is about 5 hours old.
Kobo founder and CEO Michael Serbinis,is replaced with Takahito "Taka" Aiki, who was CEO of Rakuten's telecom company Fusion Communications effective immediately, while Serbins remains involved with Kobo as vice chairman.

Mmmm, so the new boss is Japanese, is he?

We'll have to see what changes are in store for Kobo now - I hope they don't get rid of the vouchers, it's the only reason I keep buying books and that's because they're affordable with a voucher.

FROM THE ARTICLE:
"...but is that enough? They still have hardware that worked initially but is now subject to fire sale pricing and is looking like a duck out of water."

This quote alone makes me wonder if they have any clue about anything. When I checked the Kobo website the NEW hardware (Aura's) are selling for $139 and $169 (Amazon is $139 for Paperwhite or $79 for older devices, about the same as Kobo). Not exactly fire sale pricing. And if they can still make money selling the older devices cheap, good for them.
