Compare your kindle to a lesser known ebook reader
Has anyone had any of those off brands of ebook readers? I have had two Aluratek Libra Pros and a Pandigital Novel and let me tell you I like my paper white much better than either of them. The novel did not seem to do anything particularly well and the Libra Pros seemed to have a problem staying in working order. I don't think that I would buy another of either.

I bought a front-lit Odyssey last Christmas, because of its onboards ADE support. I was thinking it would make it easier to get ePubs from libraries on an eink reader, but it was inferior to my PW1 at the time, so I returned it. The browser, which I would have needed to access lubrary websites, was such a joke. If you mistyped something in the very long URL, you had to delete the whole thing and start over again, and it was SO SLOW.
I do lust after the Kobo hardware, but customer service tales and software issues I hear about keep me away from that brand. Love my kindles, though I am getting increasingly annoyed by the 90s web interface of the MYK page, and missing sorting options like tags and genres. The more books I buy, the more of a nightmare it is to sort through them all. I hope Amazon is reading this. They need to add cataloguing functionality to the website and their devices pronto. |

The Aluratek Libre Pro and the Pandigital tablet are both 2010 devices, or earlier, so you would have to compare them to the kindle from that time, or your comparison would not be worth much.

I have never owned anything other than a Kindle. I'm very happy with it and have no desire to have a different one.

I've only had the original Kobo, the Kindle Keyboard and a Kobo Mini. I have to say the K3 blows the other 2 out of the water. I've never had any serious issues with it so far. The Kobo Original died within the first year. I like the mini because of it's size and being able to adjust the margins and line spacing but it's not nearly as fast as my K3, and I love having collections. The mini has shelves but they are not as easy to get to as on the K3 and again, it's much slower to navigate through the menus. Also the touch screen on the mini is annoying, even a snow flake will change the page on me, and sometimes it gets stuck and won't change the page at all. There's no point in calling customer service at Kobo because they know nothing and can be very rude at times. Nothing beats Amazon's customer service.
