Loving the Aura HD
I've had my Aura HD for less than a week now but already read a good chunk of a hefty novel on it and I LOVE IT. This ereader has everything I want and more that I havn't discovered yet. The community support for it in apps and calibre are amazing. The HD screen and overall size are perfect for me. The build quality, comfort light, and flush-fitting micro sd expansion are fabulous. This is the best ereader I've ever seen and its a joy to own. Anybody else feel the same way? Or are there owners out there that feel its lacking something? Anybody have reasons they prefer another ereader over this one? I'd like to know

My main concern about the Aura HD is the size. Although I haven't personally held one 'cause it is not available in my country, it looked "biggish"...

It is a little big for an ereader. But compared to a hardcover book it is still relatively small. The size for me is just enough to comfortably read full page pdfs.

How about the thickness? Does it feel "thick"? 'Cause based from the pictures I've seen, it is thicker than the Glo. Most tablet these days are in a race to be the thinnest. But being an eReader, I think a little thickness is welcome. But, is it too thick?

Its definitely thicker than my kindle 3 and a little heavier. So as far as an ereader goes its "thick" but personally I compare it to a book. As far as a book goes, especially the ones I read, its still relatively thin. I know its easy to fall into the tablet comparison, but I got an ereader as a book replacement, so I compare ereaders to books as much as I do other ereaders. If light and thin are your thing though, this isn't really it.

Me, too. Well, mostly. I could totally see the appeal of the Aura HD if you love hardbound books. I just wish they sold it here. The only available eReaders here (that are legitimately for sale) are the Touch, Glo, and the Arc ( which I don't really consider as an eReader).

I agree! I love it and it's my favorite. The text is darker and sharper than on my other Kobos. When I'm at home, it's my preferred reader. I don't take it out of the house, though. Too large and heavy to lug around in my bag.

It's bigger than a six inch reader, but nothing like wrangling a hardback or a trade paperback. I spent a day or two setting one up and playing with it, and I found it a downright gorgeous device.

When one talks about the HD being bigger and heavier, we are mostly comparing it to other ereaders. Yes, it is larger and a little heavier than a Glo, Aura, or PW, but it is still IMO lighter than a tablet for instance.
Given the larger screen, the crisper text, and just the overall feel, the HD is IMO a great ereader! |

Loving mine as well. Bought the larger device for reading books and fullscreen manga, and it does it very well.
In it's natural state I agree that it can feel a little unwieldy, especially because of the slickness of the plastic. I bought a hemp cover for it, and the little bit of added weight, the extra thickness and the coarse texture made the device much nicer to hold |

If Kobo could just release the HD in an improved shell I believe they would have a home run.

For my purposes the Aura HD is ideal. It's a good fit for me (I have fairly large hands), the clarity of the screen is awesome and the lighting system is great.

This is my ereader of choice when I'm playing tennis or sliding into second base.
There's nothing better, in my opinion, and it's a joy to use. |

If you want aura HD 6", that doesnt exist, then consider an aura which has 6" screen. and yes it is better then glo... And yes BECAUSE of the BIGGER screen and other screen features, Aura HD is the best ereader on the market. Last edited by forster01; 08-15-2014 at 01:16 PM. |
