I'm hoping someone here can help me solve (another) problem.
I have several saved searches, and when I run any of those saved searches - they work fine. The books that match the search criteria are displayed, but nothing else. However... for some reason any NEW searches I create are not displaying correctly. When I create a search, the results do not appear in a window - excluding the books that dont match the search, but rather the books that match the search criteria are highlighed (in green) in the main window. I have to scroll through all my books to look for those highlighted green and those that are match the search I created. I did not change the way the searches are written, but just to be sure (i'm not crazy) I tried modifying an existing saved search; one that displays correctly, and once modified (changing only the specific word to search for), that search also doesn't work correctly - the books are highlighted in the list of books and I have to scroll down the entire list to find the highlighted books. It wouldn't be a problem if I had only a few books, but as of now I have over 6000 and scrolling through them to find the ones that match the search is cumbersome. I've made 2 changes to calibre. 1) I installed the latest update; 1.21, and; 2) I installed the "find duplicates" plugin. I cant imagine the plugin causing this issue as it is only activated by clicking on the 'find duplicates' icon on the menu bar and picking the matching criteria. To be safe, I didabled the find duplicated plugin, but the searches still dont work correctly. It's quite possible that I unknowingly changed something that caused this, but I cant seem to find the cause. Help, please. Thank you. Lisa |

Preferences|Interface|Searching
Disable Highlight search results instead of restricting the book list to the results. If Show a quick toggle button to switch between highlighting and restricting results next to the searchbar is enabled, then you will see an icon of three horizontal lines with a diagonal slash through it next to the Saved Searches text box. Toggle that button. Credit to Griker for typing this in another post, I was too lazy to write it out myself so I copy n pasted |

There is no button on the main toolbar, or under preferences. I also clicked the 'binocular' icon to look at the advanced search window and I dont see a toggle button there either. One thing i did notice is that in the main window, just above the "add books" icon, it says 'find duplicates' as if the find duplicate feature is still enabled, but its not or if it is, I dont know how to turn it off. Perhaps that's the problem? It's finding books that are similar to one another vs. searching for titles? I dont know how to deactivate the find duplicates action. |

I find it interesting that BetterRed sent you to the post that alanHd said he copied. But when you went to the original post you had difficulty.

That's the great thing about this forum poster's present solutions in different ways. This allows the questioner a chance to see things from different perspectives. In this case the info from both solutions was identical, only the formatting was different. Glad you got it sorted out. ![]() |

QUOTE] Both replies helped me - but neither was the Aha moment. Both told me I needed to 'disable highlight search results' and when I searched that phrase with Google, I found another forum that had the same question/answer and that answer had screenshots attached showing exactly where the feature was located. - Then I had my aha moment! Sorry if I left anyone out of my Thank YOu! Everyone who replied helped and my 'thank you' is to ALL of you. I'm fully physically disabled and also have a traumatic brain injury. Happened in 2003 after I was trampled by a horse. It causes me great difficulty in 'thinking' and simple problem solving. Please understand if I send my reply to the wrong person or leave someone out of a thank you reply, its not intentional. I'm doing the best I can. |

![]() And don't be afraid of asking for 'screenshots please' when you need to ask a question. Skim through the thread from which alanhd and I filched GRiker's post ==>> https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=232177 - sort of interesting where it ended up ![]() BR |
