calibre easiest was to search?

I download lots of free books and import them into calibre and add to my android tablet.
A lot of them I find I don't want to keep after reading, so delete from android and also calibre too.
I used to just type the books name into calibre and it appeared instantly on the screen for me too press delete. Sometimes before I had finished typing the name.
If there were 2 or 3 books similar title it still just showed them.
That was great.

However now I find it highlights odd books all through my booklist so I have to scroll the whole list to delete till I find it!
Sometimes it won't even find the book.
What am I missing?

Preferences|Interface|Searching

Disable Highlight search results instead of restricting the book list to the results.

If Show a quick toggle button to switch between highlighting and restricting results next to the searchbar is enabled, then you will see an icon of three horizontal lines with a diagonal slash through it next to the Saved Searches text box. Toggle that button.

Thanks Brings results up much faster But still ones I don't want too

Also when I search I cant seem to get back to the page I started when first I opened calibre
I end up closing it and re opening it again to reset

It just shows less authors.

In same Preferences dialog, review the What to search by default section. Your search terms find the title(s) you're looking for, but also show up somewhere else in the metadata. You can modify this behavior in this section.

Or, you can be more explicit in your searches:

title:"Moby Dick"

Click the Backspace Icon at the end of the search bar

You can also hit the Escape key to clear search

IIRC the 'left arrow with an X' symbol originates from the days when what's now referred to as the Backspace was known as the Rubout - maybe the Mafia claimed prior art :lol:
