Glo screen reversal
I bought my Glo about month ago and, in general, am happy with it. When reading a book, and I touch the right edge to turn the page, the screen momentarily goes from black text on light background to white text on black background, then back to black text on light background for the new page. This all happens quickly and is not a real problem, but I do wonder if this is normal and whether there is some setting that will stop this from happening. Thanks,
Ted |

It's completely normal for e-ink screens - this is the full screen refresh. You can set it from every page turn to once every six page turns in your Reading Settings. There is also a hack to make it happen less often, but you're likely to experience some ghosting if that happens, which may or may not bother you.
I now actually prefer it to happen every page turn. I blink as the flash happens so it doesn't bother me, and my page is nice and fresh each time (I'm pretty intolerant of text ghosting, I confess). |

See this thread. It's how e-ink screens work. The firmware has settings where you can set it to refresh from between every page up to once every 6 pages. You can set it to do the total refresh less frequently by editing a file, the instructions are in Post #5 of the thread.
Setting it too infrequently can result in seeing some ghosting of text, you'll have to see what works out best for you. Mine is set to refresh after 50 page turns, and I don't really see any ghosting other than on the cover when I turn it off. Edit: Meeera typed faster! ![]() |

Hey guys, thanks very much. I don't like ghosting either so I will likely end by leaving it as is.

This is normal screen turn refresh and done to prevent ghosting of prior pages degrading contrast. With your reader this should happen only every 6 pages. It has a setting to set it to happen more often if your sensitive to the ghosting. Their is also a hack to set screen refresh after more than 6 page turns. Kobo Wifi would do screen refresh after every page turn and you soon learn to ignore it.
The new Aura uses new page turn tricks so it does screen refresh only for new chapter. |
