Some more info would help us here.

How is the WiFi router configured?
What type of security?
What characters are in the password?

What f/w level is the Kobo using?

First few things that come to mind is that Kobo in past hasn't liked WPA encryption (WPA2 is fine) and using any non-standard characters (i.e other than letters and numbers) can cause problems. But as Peter said, more details will allow people provide you with better answers.

One thing often overlooked is that many have their wifi setup with a whitelist of allowed devices. Until you add the mini to that whitelist, it won't be able to connect.

It's easiest if you turn off the whitelist to let it connect, then you'll have the information to just click it to add to the whitelist, then turn the whitelist back on.

Having other issues as well, my Kobo Mini seems to dislike being switched off then switched on an hour or so later!! Last night I switched on and read for a couple of hours then switched off and tried to sleep, no luck so I thought I'd read a little longer but the darn thing refused to switch on!!

Dunno what this 'whitelist' you mentioned is all about, no idea!!

Is it charged? Are you sure, as it can be misleading if the battery dies while displaying a screen that shows charge that did not update because it was sleeping... remember the screen will still display what was last displayed without power.

Maybe it's messed up. What firmware do you have? Is it the latest? Have you tried signing out and back in? Did you sleep it and then it wouldn't wake or shut it off and then it was reluctant? Maybe a factory reset would help if you haven't tried one. I see you're having wireless connect issues, so I'm assuming you haven't reset it and signed in with a Kobo account. How did you get it set up? I'd get it hooked up through a PC or get the wireless working and see if a reset cleared things up...

I'm sure the folks with Minis will have more to add.

Tried a factory re-set and no joy, it was fully charged according to the battery logo!!

I tried both the PC and wifi angles and still won't connect even though I am certain and have checked and re - checked the password!!
Does it automatically download any books you have bought when you connect it to the PC?
Bit worried now as I have had the darn thing a couple of weeks and it doesn't seem as easy as its supposed to be!!

When you connect to the PC, if the account setup on the Mini is the same as the account being used by the Kobo desktop application, any books purchased from Kobo using that account should automagically sync. This is how I handle most of my ebooks since they are either sideloaded books in Calibre or Kobo kepubs. Transfer any new content and get a bit charging done at the same time.

One item mentioned in an earlier message about the powering back on after switching off is that I find my Aura HD will not power back on for a short while after powering off. I seldom power it off since sleep doesn't seem to use much more battery than powered off.

Regards,
David

Glynis: It's ok, you can always add your books using the USB cable while you're troubleshooting this; wifi isn't essential.

When you say you've tried everything you can think of, have you tried everything TechniSol/PeterT/etc mention? Try going through the posts above one by one and either answering each question or asking for clarification on it. There's plenty of help here to be had, if you read the responses.

Maybe try connecting somewhere with free public WiFi just to see if it's an issue with your routers configuration?
