A stumblebum Question

First, Thank You, Kovid, for building the awesome program, Calibre. I update every Friday, just to see what cool stuff you packed in it this week. Very cool. Top shelf.

Background: After reading the "Conversion" thread about book files growing from incorrect use of fonts during the conversion process. This thread,
https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=230908

I realize that I had done it incorrectly from the git. Yup. That is why my files were so huge. And that is why I need to reconvert about 95% of my files.

And, I realized I was losing from 100% to even 500% or more of the bulk out of those files by doing so. Some of the files had been through the conversion process 2 or more times to get them that huge, I think. Hell, I know. (I like to get them as perfect as I can.)

Obviously, I just happen to have the tools to do it. So I have converting them from AZW3 to AZW3 and deleting the "original AZW3" files afterward. Seems to working just fine.

Now the question: Is there a bulk way to delete the surplus "Original AZW3" files? That is when the files lose the extra bulk. Like, 3.9 meg down to 0.8 or 0.9. Yeah, it is quite impressive! Actually pretty cool to watch.

I may be doing this bass ackwards. I wouldn't mind a heads up, if that is the case.

thanks,
larry

You can select all files (CTRL-A) and then select the option to delete a specific format. Select the ORIGINAL_AZW3 from the list and press OK.

Thank you! I was hoping, praying, there was a way. I couldn't imagine Kovid building something where you couldn't bulk delete. I have a lot of files to go through. Yes, it works like a dream.

Thanks again,
larry

There's also a tweak to prevent there creation - search for 'original' in Preferences->Tweaks

Thanks, I'll check that out. Already trimmed a full gig of bloat, out of one 2.6 gig library. All the books I checked were fine. Live and learn.
