about kobo, and pacers
Hi all.
new poster here. I'm a finger reader (using the hand as a pacer for reading). currently, using tablets and kobo apps for reading, but that means I can't finger-pace due to the touch-screen. my question is, does the kobo aura (or any other e-ink reader) allow me to control the page-turn mechanism/area such that arbitrary taps and swipes do not turn the page? |

Not that I know of.
Are you interested in getting a completely non-touch reader such as an older Kindle? Or do you require updated features such as a frontlight? We had a long conversation about finger-pacing and ereaders a little while back, but I can't find it right now. Since then I wondered whether, with a capacitive device like the Aura, you could wear a light cotton glove and just cut the tip off one finger, to use for page-turning. |

reading gloves! ... how interesting.. I bet marketing is bouncing up and down for this new accessory...
anyone with the kobo aura hd care to give it a try? as to the device... I do have an ooold kindle, but I find the reading space a bit small for my taste, and the page turn to be slower than I would have liked. Granted, I've never tested an AuraHD, so I don't know how much more improved it would be. my main switch from kindle to kobo wasn't device related though. I live in canada with a canadian credit card, so for a period of time, a lot of my favorite authors were not purchasable from the amazon website due to copyright (?) issues. Didn't have the same problem with kobo, so I made the switch. Haven't browsed the amazon site recently, so I don't know if the situation is any better. |

Meeera has talking about the new "Aura" not the AuraHD as that uses the IR touchscreen and the glove idea wouldn't work for that device. Neat idea for the Aura, though.

Pockebook readers (non touch) did allow for timed page turns. They also have touch models now, but I wonder whether it is worth asking in the Pocketbook forum whether this feature is still available in their new touch models.
