Saying good-bye
So, I got some water in my reader while I was in the tub...I thought it would be okay but after days of it sitting in rice I have to say, I do not believe this fella is coming back. You will be missed greatly, my dear reader. Luckily I have another one but that is not the point. The point is...I need to stop reading in the tub lol!

What about the T2?
As an owner of multiple 950s and a recently purchased T2 (refurbished), I feel your pain.
I kept thinking that it would be easy to move to the T2 given faster processor, better graphics, higher resolution, easier to connect to the internet and the books store, lighter weight. But given the postage stamp screen, my fingers and became tired swiping so much more frequently on the T2 than on the 950. And using the keys, which are essential regardless what Kindle owners will say, the interface with the ends of my digits is not pleasing. Am I missing something here? And hence why would the T3 be any better than the T2? Sigh. My wife now has the T2 and also reads in the tub. Hopefully it is sufficiently water resistant. T2 is a nice e-reader. Much nicer than the T1. T3 is more compact size. I long since said goodbye to Sony stuff, and my partner greedily snatched my 650 off me. I use a rooted Nook now.

Thanks to eBay, I stay well stocked with at least two PRS 950s at all times.

This is the reason I am not a fan of touch screen readers. My old PRS-505 could just be placed in a ziplock bag. My Nook, not so much. But other than the basic kindle, I don't know of any readers (That are still being produced) that lack touch screens these days.

When I go kayaking and have a minute to chill out I always take my reader with me. I have it in a couple baggies and then a waterproof bag I put it in when I'm actually kayaking but when I'm just reading I leave it in the baggie and it works fine. I kinda ran out and thought I'd be okay but the fat cat likes to try to jump in the tub with me sometimes and she flicks water everywhere like a jerk lol!

I don't even like to use the touchscreen unless I have a screen protector on it

Don't have any of the PRS readers but I can say as former president Bill Clinton once said "I feel your pain." I can imagine if I got my paper white wet like yours. Before I converted to electronic books I got many of my printed ones wet and they needed to be replaced so I understand where you are coming from.

The one thing I have always loved about Sony readers is that they all have page turn buttons. You don't have to swipe, just use the button.

Lol, it's merveilleux until she decides she doesn't want to be wet anymore! For some reason the one likes to sit on the edge and just lets her tail into the water, she likes to watch it swish underwater...the one time she tried to catch it and fell in lol. The fat cat gets in and likes to lay on my chest or stomach and hang out while I read. She's such a weirdo lol

Right!? I'm wary of things that only have a touchscreen and only a on/off button for some reason. I like the touchscreen but I use the buttons quite a bit.

Oh no! I feel your pain too! I was very sad when my 950 met its end (dead battery). The 950 was such an awesome model. I loved the 7" screen.
I like to read in the tub and the swimming pool. I use a plastic bag that I bought on Amazon. Works ok with the touchscreen and keeps my reader safe. |
