Today only, Amazon has the Kindle 4B (current low end Kindle) on sale for $49. That's a $20 discount and the lowest price seen this holiday season. While supplies last.

wow! this is quite tempting! Even though I have 2 kindles plus apps on my tablets, this is still worth serious consideration!.... to throw in my purse... bag, etc.

This model (K4B) from 2012 is going into its second year. Amazon never refreshed it. I have the previous model (K4S) from 2011 and it's still working great. No need to get another one, since I still have my K3 as backup.

Cool; it's a great device. I have the 4S and it's my primary ereader. I like a simple device for reading.

My first Kindle was the K4 Silver/Grey one which I really liked. I sold it to get the Paperwhite and just couldn't pass it up for $50 for a gift. I just hope she likes it as much as I did.

I ordered one for one of my granddaughters. It arrived earlier today. It's a nice little reader. I do prefer my PW though. I didn't realize how much I had gotten used to reading on a white background.

But I am sure she will love this one. I got it set up for her and loaded it with several PD books I think she will like. Come Christmas day, she is going to be one excited kid!

Set up a library account for her and then help her check out a book after she opens it.

That's the plan! I so love libraries! Although, she may be a bit young to follow all the steps, but her Mom has a PW and uses a couple of libraries all the time, so I'm sure there won't be a problem in that household.

With an older granddaughter I have already done that. Her parents got her a PW, but no one had any idea how to use it!

I had my granddaughter get a library card and showed her the steps. I have access to her Amazon account and can see she is hooked! She always has at least one book chekced out. I also keep an eye out on freebies for her. I love it!

She's 8 and I truly don't know her computer skills. I have no worries about her using the Kindle, just the process of checking out library books.

The older granddaughter I mentioned was 13 when she got the PW. It took her two different sessions with me to fully understand the library process. She and I both thought she understood it well after the first session, but it took the 2nd time to make it totally clear to her. I think it was just the amount of time between when she did it with me the first time and then a couple of weeks later when she tried it on her own.
