Automatic retrying recipe download after being offline
Hallo,
great piece of software calibre is. So I use it since 1.5 years now on a windows laptop and was now able to get it run on the mini arm computer raspberry pi. This little computer need less energy than a "normal" computer does. So I let it run day and night and configured some recipes to get downloaded some point in time (i.e. each day at 10:00 am). To save energy I often switch off my router, so that calibre is not able to download the news at 10:00 am sometimes. Then it creates a "empty" ebook. I don't want it to do that. What I wish is, that calibre stops download and converting and restarts another try later (time hase to be configurable) or that calibre automatic recognises, when the recipe URL is online again. Is there a way to solve this. (Updating calibre is not a way, because the Linux distributions for the arm based raspberry pi computer are not "up to date" and I do not want to build on my own a new dist.) Help will be great. Regards DisasterArea |

I'd suggest the following:
Write a (ba)sh script that checks if you got a internet connection (e.g. by pinging 8.8.8.8 (google-dns ) if yes: execute cmd-commands to downloads the newspapers (ebook-convert --recipies) if no: sleep for 1 hour and try again call this whole script by cron Rai |
