Version 2.5.5 is out
Enhancements:
  • Marvin uses book language information to correctly hyphenate words (where possible).

Fixes:
  • Fixed a bug where some books were reported as damaged or encrypted.
  • Fixed a minor problem with the “marvinhttp://“ URL scheme.
  • Other minor UI enhancements.

I noticed that in this new version (2.5.5), the page turn is now using slide effect. Is it possible to turn this effect off?

So far, I cannot say that the new hyphenation rules are an improvement, rather the contrary. I seem to be getting more hyphenation errors than before. But maybe the german hyphenation rules are simply too complex (I remember rather discouraging experiences with various word processing systems).

@Clark G. Flipper - for performance reasons, Marvin uses iOS' own system to hyphenate (Webkit) so I have little control over what it does. As a consolation, hyphenation is a per-book setting.

Coming to think of it, it could also be a problem with the book if it is advertising itself to be a language other than, say, German. You'll find the book language setting in the OPF of the book.

You are right again. The book was in German but professed to be in English. (A comercially produced ebook; what a shame!)
