Just wondering if anyone else is having trouble installing v. 1.37 for 64 bit systems.
No matter how I install it reports that I've installed version 1.36. Also, the MD5 signature according to Fosshub doesn't match the hash for the installer I download. Edit: Should have mentioned running Win 64 bit on Intel machine Last edited by hidden.platypus; 05-22-2014 at 05:55 PM. Reason: Omission |

FWIW the MSI always has the version number. If it fails the install, it rolls back. Also. Calibre mus be fully shut down: No content server... A fresh boot before does not hurt , but usually is not needed. |

@hidden.platypus - Assuming you install calibre in the default location (%SystemDrive%\Program Files\Calibre2) and if you start program with a shortcut, then check shortcut targets %SystemDrive%\Program Files\Calibre2\calibre.exe (right click shortcut, select Properties, it's in Shortcut tab->Target)
If all else fails uninstall and do a fresh install - you won't lose anything, but to be safe I would backup my libraries and configuration data first. BR |

Have downloaded 1.37 from three different places (though I suppose it works out to only two) since majorgeeks draws the installer from kovid's site.
But even when I get it from fosshub, it doesn't install 1.37. Always 1.36. The 32 bit 1.37 installer works. @BetterRed - Doesn't matter where I install it. Each installer acts though I am installing version 1.36. In fact, when I run the installer it gives me options to repair and uninstall as if it is installing v 1.36 and not 1.37. |

Completely removed 64 bit version, cleaned temp folder.
Downloaded fresh copy from http://calibre-ebook.com/download_windows64 Installed version according to Revo and Windows is 1.36. Both also show 1.37 for 32 bit as being installed. Curiouser and curiouser... |

Don't know if I did something wrong by posting a link, but my last post is awaiting moderation.
In summary, I removed calibre completely, downloaded a fresh copy of 1.37 from the calibre main site. (I had included a link, assuming link got post put in purgatory). Revo and Windows both report that 1.37 for 32 bit systems is installed, but the fresh copy of 1.37 installed 1.36 for 64 bit systems. Both Revo and Windows report that 1.36 for 64 bit systems is installed although I downloaded and installed 1.37 from the website. |

The Mods look at it and release the hold. Note: You can have BOTH 32 bit and 64 bit installed on a x64 system. It is possible that (x64) 37 was installed but your shortcut was to the older 32 bit install |

@hidden.platypus - Take a look at the %SystemDrive%\Program Files\Calibre2\calibre.exe properties - see attachment.
If its 1.37 then run it from there - what does it say at bottom left - 1.37? If so then your problem is a shortcut - get rid of them and create new ones (or live without them - Pin to Taskbar/Start menu are better because they don't get hidden, moved, or otherwise interfered with). Whilst you can have 32 & 64 bit installed there's no real point in doing so. If you want to have a version of calibre for trying ideas, plug-ins etc install the portable version. Portable is self contained whilst the 32 and 64 bit installed versions share the same configuration data and libraries. I have a vague memory of someone finding Revo was too aggressive with un-installing calibre in that it deleted all/some configuration data. Given calibre itself puts nothing into the registry, tools like Revo etc are not needed. The only registry entries that are related to calibre are put there by the Microsoft Trusted Installer, and they're there so that calibre can be un-installed via the Control Panel. BR |

@theducks
I am not sure what the problem is. I checked the install directory and the 64-bit exe reports that it is 1.36 even though I downloaded the 1.37 installer. I wonder if anyone has a 1.37 installer that they verified installs version 1.37. |

Here's the installer details that I downloaded and installed last week from official calibre site - its what created the .exe file in my prior post. I just downloaded a fresh copy, exactly the same
Delete the Calibre2 folder from Program Files, you should be able to uninstall via CP It should pop a message - 'it''s not here, delete anyway' click Yes/OK Install again. BR |

@BetterRed
I double checked, and triple checked. I have 1.36 for the 64 bit version, even after downloading 1.37 clean. I went into the install directory and it says it's version 1.36. One of the things I find disconcerting is that I don't have my calibre library in the default place. But even after a clean install, calibre still finds the library. That shouldn't be. |

Uninstall does not delete your libraries or your configuration data - that's By Design.
Added : The location of libraries is in the configuration data BR Last edited by BetterRed; 05-22-2014 at 08:59 PM. |

@hidden.platypus - Check where your download goes. Suggest you do a vanilla browser download (Save Link/Target As) to your desktop. File name should be calibre-64bit-1.37.0.msi. Properties should be as per previous post

[QUOTE=hidden.platypus;2836011
...I went into the install directory and it says it's version 1.36...[/QUOTE] I don't know what your "install directory" is nor do I follow exactly what you are doing, but if you haven't done the following already I suggest you try it and see what you end up with. Go to the Calibre website downloads and double click the download you want. When the "Do you want to run or save Calibre" bar comes up select "Save As" and save the installation file to a temporary folder on your drive. Then navigate to that folder when the download has completed and you should have the 1.37 version (as long as you do it before 1.38 is issued ![]() |

Yes it works. You better believe the noise level would rise in HOURS of the Friday release if it was south
![]() Does your MSI include the word 64bit? Failure to complete the install is the ONLY reason left for 36 to still be showing at the end. |
