Fast Access to Metadat

At the moment when you want to access the book metadat you have to swipe the book and then select the metadat button. Hoeever when you use the Calibre import feature (through the calibre server) you have the two points (..) on the right side of the screen beside each book, just hit it and you get the metadata (expecially the book synopsis if you have it on calibre).
I would really liekto have something similar at the libary screen

Thanks

Otherwise the best apps on the market, deleted all my other reader apps!

That's for viewing some extra detail about the book before you download it.

If you like, tapping the header in a book (where it says the book name/author) will bring up a detailed metadata panel too.

Not if you disable the header.

It probably really only matters on the phone where screen space is more dear, but Stanza used to bring up a little info overlay in the center of the screen that showed like chapter name and page info when you were in toolbar mode. If you duplicated that feature you could add the tap to metadata panel there as well.

I see this as a potentially serious issue for users who disable the display of headers and footers in Marvin; they lose some essential functionality that way, and that's hardly acceptable in the long run. Similarly, the back button is embedded in the footer, so no footer -- no back button, either! I agree that Stanza was smart to pop up those overlays along with the toolbars, as well as the back button and the forward button, too.

@Faterson - You're right - I'll be moving the back button into the bottom toolbar.

This is correct but...

While this is correct, ti want to see the information before I open the book. The information displayed on the download page is exactly what aim looking for at the library page. Reason: I have over 3000 books in the library, just want to make the selection easier. Especially if I have not read a series for longer time without the short info it makes finding the next book sometimes time consuming.

You can also swipe the book in the library to the left and choose "Metadata" before opening it.

Thanks and Marvin is an excellent programm, but still, the swipe and Select is a little bit cumbersome, I relly would prefer a one hit method! As there is a lot of space , expecially on the IPAD or in the expanded mode, I would really prefer to have the Swipe functions directly at the book selection!

@thomasmorus - The next update will allow you to tap on the header to view metadata even if the header is hidden. The only exception is on iPhone *only if* the vertical margins are set to minimum (because there wouldn't be a space to tap on).

Just my luck that being exactly the mode I use most on my iphone, whatever reader I use (with different results as to how much white space is left) Was wondering already why I couldn't get it to show.

any change it ever adopts the same method Stanza used? providing a button to the metadata in the popped toolbar? And maybe even displaying the location info in the center in a popup at the same time as mentioned earlier in the thread?

@At_Libitum - Unfortunately, I don't have space to add another button to the iPhone toolbar; there are already 5 on top, and 4 in the bottom one (5 after the next update).

If a center screen overlay is out of the question for aesthetic or whatever other reasons, maybe the header (and page/progress info?) could be added just above the top toolbar when they're displayed? There's plenty of vertical space to make it look nice with the iOS 7 design language and it should be pretty low impact.

Question Synopsis Portion of Metadata

Hey kguil,

I've found how to edit the title and title sort lines of the metadata.

But is there any way to edit the synopsis portion? I found a typo, but wasn't near my PC to use Calibre and the Marvin plug-in to correct it.

So, for future reference, how can I do the edit in Marvin and do the Calibre correction later?

Editing the summary/description of the book will require building a full HTML editor in Marvin - I'm not sure it's really worth the complication. I suggest updating the summary in calibre and resyncing the book.
