Nook Glowlight questions

I have just seen this on the B&N Nook forumL Nook is losing charge fast and freezing. Does anyone have this problem? (I hope not since my husband surely will get me one for my bd). The reason I ask is that my Mom's Nook ST was perfect until the battery started to fail now and then (didn't take charge/dropped all charge in a few hours etc) and drove her crazy. I tried to reset, reinstall and all the tricks in this forum and it didn't solve the problem completely and she is not in US so no return/replace (sigh!)

Also, does anyone find any cover for it beside the useless official covers?

Have you tried rebooting the device after the charging? In other words, turn it completely off (on a ST, this means holding the power button down for about 5 seconds and it will ask you if you want to power down completely and you say yes). I have a ST that has ALWAYS had the rapid drain problem, and it always fixes it if I turn it completely off right after a charge. You can then turn it back on right way, because you have actually rebooted it and this has always fixed it for me.

I bought a Nook Glowlight when it first came out and I have not either issue and I have been completely happy with my purchase.

Somebody at the store took one of the new covers out I bought one of the old Nook "Simple Touch" covers for $15 and it looks and works great, the prongs will hold the nook although not as securely as the old Nooks which had slots, but securely enough that I don't worry about it. I bought the leather or simulated leather (not sure) one with the tab on the cover. If you have an old cover try that with your new Nook and see if you feel comfortable with the fit.

make sure you press and hold the side button for 3 seconds til a box pops up asking if you want to shut off power completely...then press yes.
