Rose is a rose is a rose is a rose
The title of the present thread is the quotation borrowed from the Gertrude Stein’s poem and it has nothing in common with this post. It was invented as a hook to catch the reader. If you read this text it means that I caught you. Isn’t that nice?
I own two e-readers: Kindle Touch and Kindle Paperwhite 2. Or maybe I don’t own none of them? My first e-reader was Kindle Touch. I bought it soon after its premiere and then I updated the firmware on a regular basis. My girlfriend fell in love with this device when she saw it for the first time. She cried then: “I see my future birthday’s gift! I see my future birthday’s gift!”. I lent my Kindle Touch to my girlfriend around the day of her birthday. Before I did it I tried to jailbreak the device and install Polish internalization files but I realized that Amazon releases the firmware which disables the jailbreaks always and improves something from time to time. So my girlfriend has Kindle Touch working in English version. I’m not sure she uses it. Some time ago I was forced to charge it before I installed the newest firmware on it. I bought Kindle Paperwhite 2 soon after its premiere. At the very beginning I discovered that Amazon disabled the vertical swipes (from chapter to chapter). With Kindle Touch I was disappointed with its typographic capabilities. It forces the justification of the text and doesn’t offer the hyphenation at all. I learned how to force the alignment of the text to the left when I’m preparing my own MOBI files using Calibre but I’m not brave enough to convert all the books which I own with such a method so they look horrible. The disabled vertical swipes in the newest Kindle were too much for me. I stopped to believe in Amazon. So I decided not to update the firmware at all. Instead I’ll install on my brand new Kindle the jailbreak and the other necessary software. Unfortunately the documentation is the weakest part of the developers’ corner here so there’s the risk that instead of improve my Kindle I’ll brick it definitively. Now I’m busy because I finish my book. When the work will be done I’ll convert the book to MOBI format and I’ll start to sell it in Amazon. Then I’ll try to not brick my Kindle with the software made by the hackers. So maybe I own two Kindles, or maybe my girlfriend owns one of them and I own the other, or maybe she has a Kindle and I have a prospect brick. Now you understand my doubts, I hope. *** [Link deleted - MODERATOR] Last edited by Dr. Drib; 12-07-2013 at 06:38 AM. Reason: borrow --> lend |

Hi Valmore Daniels. It was a great pleasure to be welcomed by the Grand Sorcerer. I’ll put some more personal user title into my profile about my tenth post. “Junior Member” seems the right title for me here and now.
During the last few days I spent a lot of time reading different threads – mostly in “Kindle Developer’s Corner” as well as the documentation of the software written or promoted by NiLuJe, twobob, ixtab, and the other notable members of our forum. You do a good job reading the introducing posts written by the newbies and welcoming them. Thank you very much! |

cassidym,
It seems to me that we have here an overproduction of Grand Sorcerers. It’s nice to read a few words written by some and the other one Grand Sorcerer but the inflation of the sorcery may cause that it becomes something ordinary rather than something mysterious. Anyway thank you for welcoming me. I just started some nice thread in “Reading Recommendations” section but because it isn’t allowed to publish links or promotional texts in “Introduce Yourself” section I can’t advertise here my thread explicitly. |

ImogenRose,
For some reason you decided to welcome me two weeks after my debut here. For some other reason today I started to be MobileRead member anew. Each day sees new changes. I wanted to post you a message but your profile hides the public messages so I am replying to you here. I could not check your profile so I checked “Uprising” by Imogen Rose. I could risk a hypothesis that we both are supernaturals. |
